learning the BSPTS rigo Concept

As a physical therapist you can become certified to train patients in the scoliosis specific exercises from the Rigo Concept BSPTS school using Rigo Concept PSSE.
A prerequisite to the 3 Leveled courses is the Base Course.  The Base Course is for all medical professionals. This course can be taken online; see details: www.BSPTS.net

The three leveled courses are for physical therapists only.  Completion of all 3 are required for Rigo Concept PSSE Certification:

Level 1, 2 and 3 are 48 CEU hours.  Each level has its own requirements to advance to the next level.  Details on all levels are on the Schroth-Barcelona Institute website (www.bsptsnorthamerica-rigoconcept.com).  

L1 Objectives:
  • Understand multidisciplinary approach to conservative management of scoliosis
  • Perform an individualized scoliosis patient clinical evaluation
  • Understand radiological variables in scoliosis assessment and classification
  • Identify scoliosis patients appropriate for conservative management
  • Develop specific treatment plans and goals based on the patient presentation
  • Treat patients with basic 3-D principles of correction according to BSPTS
  • Treat in 5 basic starting positions (supine, prone, side-lying, sitting and standing)
  • Teach joint protection and proper ADL principles for patients with scoliosis

L2 Objectives:
  • Describe the general principles of the Rigo Concept PSSE. 
  • Establish the specific principles to treat a specific scoliosis curve type
  • Define the correction strategies needed for each specific case and at each of its treatment positions. 
  • Develop a treatment plan appropriate for the clinical and radiological aspects specific to the patient. 
  • Carry out the advanced exercises for the treatment of scoliosis.

L3 Objectives:
  • Define scoliosis in adults: novo scoliosis and adolescence scoliosis with development in the adult.
  • Describe the clinical and radiological aspects of the adult patient with scoliosis and the differences between the two clinical types.
  • Know about the current range of surgical approaches for patients with scoliosis.
  • Establish teamwork to treat patients with scoliosis.
  • Differentiate the correction principle using the Rigo-Cheneau brace

Bridge Course: Stay tuned for Rigo Concept - BSPTS Bridge Course designed for C2 therapists wanting to learn updates from the school.  It is 3 days.  Following the course, and completion of 2 case studies, the student can enter into Level 3 of the new educational program.
